SAP Concur’s Integrated Software Drives Business Success

SAP Concur is one of the leading providers of travel, expenses and accounting software, with 92 million users across more than 46,000 organizations. It wanted to conduct research across several key markets and customer personas into the advantages of using integrated T&E and AP software, to demonstrate how companies can improve spend management and travel processes even against a backdrop of ongoing fiscal change. 

Objective

The aim of this study was, firstly, to showcase integrated T&E and AP software as the best way to manage travel and expenses effectively and in a cost-effective manner. Secondly, the company sought evidence that their sales teams could use to inform conversations with prospects. This would be shown both directly, through marketing materials, and indirectly, by sharing data with Concur sales teams. 

Solution

Our solution was split into three distinct phases:

Phase 1: Quantitative Research and Qualitative Research:

  • Collected and analyzed survey data from over 1,800 respondents from 11 countries and across multiple industries
  • Conducted SME interviews with key industry leads to better understand and supplement responses

 Phase 2: Analysis and Insights:

  • Identified key themes in customer behavior
  • Considered possible rationale for those behaviors

 Phase 3: Report and Sales Material Production:

  • Transformed complex data into a compelling narrative supporting
  • Designed and delivered global and regional editions of insights reports designed to influence decision-makers
  • Created comprehensive sales enablement deck to support lead gen

Results

Our research showed that those using an integrated travel and expense platform see significant benefits:

  • 26% increase in policy compliance
  • 21% annual cost savings
  • 2X more efficient in expense report processing

Adding in automated accounts payable solutions demonstrated even stronger results:

  • 2.5X more vendors engaged
  • 64% more invoices processed monthly
  • 20% average cost savings

We discovered that digitalizing operations is seen as vital for business resilience and cost control, with the right software clearly yielding significant savings in routine back-office tasks. The evidence is that integrated T&E management solutions are helping companies achieve impressive productivity rates: with twice as many expense reports processed per month, integrated users are 10 times more efficient. By helping finance teams to handle more volume, an integrated system can free up time for frontline employees to focus on the most important work.
